Internal Family Systems (IFS) sessions

Internal Family Systems (IFS) can help you find inner harmony and connect with your core resource, known as the Self. In this process self-compassion, and Self-leadership are reinforced.

IFS is developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, and invites you to explore your inner life gently and respectfully, bringing healing, calm and connection to your inner experience.

The Self, your innate resource
The main idea behind IFS is that every person has an inner being or true essence that remains unaffected by past experiences or circumstances. This clear Self generates a continuous flow of love and self-compassion. The IFS model helps you access and trust this inner essence, allowing its qualities to help your self-regulate harmoniously.

Healing your patterns and old pain through connecting to Self
Our inherent Self has the qualitites that are instrumental in the healing process, and for creating another relationship to the pain or difficulties we have experienced. 

The IFS healing process doesn’t attempt to erase the facts, but can change the way this pain is carried and
experienced by us.
This helps you ressource yourself and lessens the impact of previous trauma.

Strengthening your Self will enable you to be a strong leader for all your parts. When your Self takes the lead, your parts can offer input while respecting your leadership and decision-making

All your parts can co-exist and contribute their talents, reflecting their true, non-extreme intentions. This helps you access your agency, also in complex situations that are demanding.

How does IFS work?

In an IFS session, we will:
- Explore the parts of you that create challenges or uncomfortable feelings.
- Meet these parts and create a lasting relationship with them from your Self
- Releasing burdens from the past and creating new, more appropriate roles for your parts.

Why is IFS so effective?
- IFS recognizes that all of your parts have an important function and deserve to be met with respect and understanding. We therefore look at your system as a whole and bring more balance into it.
- By using your Self as a guide in the process, a deep and lasting change is created.
- IFS is based on the idea that you already have the resources you need and that I (as coach) function as a guide from whom you can borrow self-energy along the way.
- By working with the underlying causes of your challenges, IFS creates lasting and sustainable changes.

I have completed my Level 1 training from the IFS Institute. I completecurrently my Level 2 IFIO training (Intimacy From the Inside Out) in eraly summer 2025.  I continue to receive supervision, and deepen my use of IFS through IFS-institute-trainings.
