What is compassion?

Compassion is to respond with kindness, warmth, and support when someone experiences something uncomfortable. When directed towards ourselves, it is self-compassion.

Why learn self-compassion?

Research shows that the ability to practice self-compassion is closely linked to all aspects of mental health. This means that self-compassion:

  • Reduces stress, depression, stress reactions, and anxiety.
  • Increases life satisfaction and happiness, improves relationships, and makes it easier to handle unpleasant emotions, conflicts, and difficult situations.

I have specialized in Compassion as a method. I have been teaching for more than 6 years for the Center For Mindful Self-Compassion in the USA. This includes their international Live Online courses, as well as being a Teacher Trainer and Supervisor for future Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) instructors. I am a certified instructor from UCSD, USA, in 2014. I have taught over 2000 people in the full MSC program and am a sought-after instructor in organizations and companies looking to strengthen employees personally and professionally through increased empathy and compassion.

I hold a master's degree from Aarhus University. I have several years of project management experience for a municipal project for individuals on sick leave due to stress and/or depression. I have served as a lead mentor with Sofia Manning for over 10 years and have taught in the field of psychological work environment and personal communication. For the past 6 years, I have exclusively focused on Self-Compassion for increased empathy and emotional strength. I teach internationally, including for the Center for MSC in the USA and other international companies, such as Self-Compassion Academy in Holland and a course provider covering the Chinese-speaking part of the world.
